What is B1 and B2 Visa?

E2 Visa – Visa E2 – What People Really Mean When They Search This

E2 visa, visa e2, whatever you type – it’s the one for putting your own money into a U.S. business and basically becoming the boss there.

You need to invest a decent chunk – no official minimum but most folks I know talk $150k to $350k or even more, depending if it’s a franchise like Subway or Dunkin, a small gas station, coffee shop, or some IT service thing you start from scratch.

Business can’t be fake or tiny – it has to look real, make money, and ideally hire a few Americans so they don’t call it “marginal.”

Pakistanis get lucky here because we’ve had the treaty since 1961. Approvals come through pretty regularly – often a 5-year visa, and you can renew it forever as long as the business doesn’t crash.

My cousin’s friend from Defence did it – bought into a little retail spot in Florida, now he goes there a few months a year, family visits, life is good.

UAE people though? Nah – UAE still not a treaty country in 2026. No E2 visa unless you got dual citizenship (Pakistani one counts, so some UAE Pakistanis sneak in that way).

No cap, no lottery drama. Just go to the consulate, show a clean money source (bank papers, maybe sold land proof), and a solid business plan. Lawyer? Yeah, people spend $3k–$10k extra but it saves headaches from dumb errors.

B1 Visa – B2 Visa – B1 B2 Visa – What is a B1 and B2 Visa Anyway

B1 visa is for short business trips – attending meetings, conferences, signing papers, negotiating deals, but no actual U.S. salary or paid work.

B2 visa covers tourism, visiting relatives, medical check-ups, maybe a short fun course.

Most get the combo B1 B2 visa – handles both worlds.

So “what is a B1 and B2 visa?” It’s basically the visitor stamp for coming for a bit and then going back home – no plans to stay forever.

The Embassy cares about one thing only: strong ties. Job NOC with salary proof, parents or kids who need you, house/flat ownership papers, bank statements showing you’re not broke and won’t overstay.

If you’re young, single, no proper job or savings? They refuse fast – 214(b) is the code you’ll see.

Pakistan wait times right now are painful – Islamabad about 6.5 months for the interview slot, Karachi 7 — 7.5 months.

UAE side way easier – Abu Dhabi can be quick sometimes, Dubai mixed but usually beats our waits.

Visas often come for 1–10 years multiple entry, each visit up to 6 months (they can give shorter if they smell risk).

H1B Visa – H1B Visa Lottery – The One That Drives Everyone Crazy

H1B visa is for skilled jobs – software, engineering, finance, accounting – anything where you need a degree or equivalent experience.

The U.S. company has to sponsor you and file the papers.

But the real pain? H1B visa lottery.

Cap is 65,000 normal spots plus 20,000 for people with master’s.

FY2027 registration window was March 4–19 this year.

They changed it – now a weighted lottery: higher salary jobs get more chances (Level IV pay = like 4 times the entries, Level III = 3x, etc.).

So if your job offer is $120k+ or better, you have a better shot.

A friend from Gulberg tried once – nothing. Switched to a company paying more, second try he got selected. Now he’s in Texas, sending food pics that make me jealous.

Stay usually starts at 3 years, can extend to 6 total. Social media check is serious – keep it clean and public.

L1A Visa – L1A Visa Requirements – L1A Visa to Green Card Path

L1A visa is for bosses and managers moving from overseas branches to U.S. one inside the same company.

L1A visa requirements in simple words:

  • At least 1 full year in managerial or executive job abroad during the last 3 years
  • Your foreign company and U.S. one have proper relationship (parent, subsidiary, branch, affiliate)

No lottery, no annual cap – much easier than H1B.

You can stay up to 7 years total.

Biggest plus? L1A visa to green card is strong – goes through EB-1C for multinational executives/managers. No need for the PERM labor test, processes faster than normal green cards.

Lots of UAE folks use this – Dubai/Abu Dhabi big companies (banks, tech) transfer managers all the time. The Pakistan side is growing too.

L1B Visa – Specialized Knowledge Transfer Visa

L1B visa is like L1A but for regular employees who have special knowledge about the company’s stuff – unique products, secret processes, tech that’s not common in the U.S.

Same 1-year abroad in the last 3 years.

No cap or lottery. Max stay 5 years.

Green card path usually EB-2 or EB-3 – slower because PERM labor certification needed.

F1 Visa – F1 Student Visa – Studying in the U.S. Route

F1 visa, or F1 student visa, is for full-time students at approved U.S. schools – colleges, unis, even language courses.

Basic steps:

  • School accepts you and gives I-20 form
  • Pay SEVIS fee $350
  • Visa application fee $185
  • Prove you (or parents/sponsor) have money for tuition + living costs
  • Show ties back home so they think you’ll leave after studies
  • Usually need TOEFL or IELTS for English

After finishing: OPT lets you work – 1 year normal, 3 years in the STEM field.

Many Pakistanis and UAE students do F1 then try to switch to H1B later.

Interviews for F1 are often quicker than B1 B2 in both countries.

Quick thoughts from Lahore:

Apply early – stalk ustraveldocs.pk or .ae for interview dates.

Social media – delete anything that screams “I’m never coming back.”

Practice interview – talk to mirror or record, cut out “umms” and nervous laughs.

Refused once? Fix the weak ties part and try again – happens a lot.
